Sounds like the alternator, you should get around 13 volts on a volt meter with the engine running. It would be best to have the battery load tested, and get the alternator checked out. After a 10 mile trip I would expect the battery to be more discharged than that if the alternator had failed completely. But I'm no expert on these things!

Sorry, not sure how pricey an alternator change would be if thats what needs to be done. I'm sure a more knowledgeable type will be along to assist further
