Espace IV Rear Brakes

Hi All....

I was wondering if someone could help out with my little problem...I get the following messages on the dashboard "Parking Brake Fault", "Check parking Brake", "Parking Brake Off" all with the little warning triangle & service light and the brake will not apply so Ive been leaving it in gear when parked for the last few weeks.

I took the car to a brake specialist (not renault) but they said they could not reset the fault. Before I go down that route....I thought I'd try a post here first, could someone tell me...

a) Where the fuse is for the handbrake?
b) Is there a brake relay?
c) Is there any special sequence for resetting a brake fault?

Many thanks

Re: Espace IV Rear Brakes

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Until recently the handbrake codes and reset were accessible using the Renault Clip system only, but I have recently seen at least one aftermarket tool that can do the job.I'm guessing not too many people will have one though so really you need to find a Renault specialist with Clip or it's trip to a dealer.

In your case it sounds as though the unit that works the cables is faulty,or possibly even a cable has broken.Even if this unit is replaced it will still need to be reset using one of the above systems.
