Personally id go back down the pub and give the bill to the muppet that made the comment.

Discs will always get a bit of light surface rust. its winter! (cold and damp)

if you are unsure if the discs/pads are not working correctly take the car for a run and use the handbreak to test the brake ability and scrape the discs clean, then take it to a MOT station for testing to see if they are all working ok to DOT specifications.

The cheaper option was to bleed the brake fluid on all 4 wheels with new fluid to flush out any carbon contaminated fluid which might impare brake function.

The muppet down the pub is without doubt only qualified to empty the glass in front of him.

Re: rear off side brake not working

thanks for the info, i can see why they said the calaper was faulty as all the other disks are nice & shiney & get hot after a run, but the other one stays cold & rusty. so its going into the garage in the morning to have the brakes bled then on the rolling road. again very many thanks. all the best gerry.
