Clio 51reg - Brakes grinding....??

Hi All,

I have a problem with my Renault Clio 1.2 51reg dynamique.

When i brake 80% of the time i just get a grinding noise and i can feel it in the pedal like scraping on the disk as it goes round.. the brakes at this point are some what useless... i have to keep letting go of the brakes then pressing them again.. i usually have to do this a couple of times before the brake decide to work properly. This has been going on since the brake pads where replaced so i think it has something to do with that.

Also when the brakes are grinding i can hear a slight buzzing noise that sound like its coming from something electrical maybe. This goes away when the brakes decide to work.

Can anyone help as it is pretty dangerous i know but cant afford to go renault garage..

Thanks in advance

You really can't afford to risk running with a brake fault. Take it to a local small garage and ask for advice.
You need to be sure nothing is going to fall off.
From your description, it could be the grinding noise and funny pedal feel is the ABS kicking in.
Could be a connector that got disturbed at the front wheels or ABS ring on driveshaft hanging off.

Re: Clio 51reg - Brakes grinding....??

Hello and welcome to the forum.

It does sound like an ABS ring fault, more likely to be one of the front ones damaged. They are available separately from the shaft, there is a seller on eBay would can supply them and some good info and pictures on the forum on how to do the job.I suspect a garage will want to fit a complete driveshaft but this is an unnecessary expense.
