Clio II brake pads checking

I recently took my clio to have a service and MOT and they informed me that my brakes were 80% worn and that it would not make the next service/MOT so I agreed to have my 2 front brake pads changed.

On receipt of my car I could not notice any change in the feel of the brakes and I am not sure if they did any work on them. I did notice that the handbreak is stiffer and it looks like they did work to that.

My question is, is there a way to find out if they have been changed, bear in mind that I do not know anything really about the mechanical side of a car, so is there a simple way to check without having to take things apart or end up paying someone to check it for me.

Re: Clio II brake pads checking

Hi and welcome.
Your luck is in. This top post from Lagdti will show the before and after look.
You might have to take a wheel off for a good look.
If they have been done more than a week or two then the new ones won't look as clean as the pictures.
If the pads were worn by 80%, they would still be working to their full potential. Changing them doesn't necessarily improve performance. Infact, for a few miles they will be generally worse until the new pads bed into the discs.
