Unhappy clio top mount excessive play after now bushes fitted

hi not sure if im posting in right part but iv got a 1.2 16v 2004 clio expression theirs lots of knocking from front and car wanders over 50 mph i changed top mounts with the bearink kit but when it was reasembled the strut still has loads of play at the top bout 15mm evrything was refitted exactly as removed???? anyone help???.i should point out i changed ball joints same time and has just passed m o t. since changing parts wandering has stopped and knocking not as bad but still their and it creaks like mad wen accelerating round left hand bends any help be great cheers

Have you checked the engine mounts?
