Angry Renault Laguna I (2000) Handbrake Rod snapped

Hi all,

I recently tried to readjust my handbrake and tighten the cable up as it wasn't holding the car anymore and the adjuster nut snapped off the end of the push rod near the yolk (despite WD40 being used to help). The lever and the brakes are fine (just passed the MOT) it's just the rod which runs the length of the car I need.

Renault now say the part is obsolete (Part number 7700428616) and I have to source one from a breaker.

Can anyone help? Any hints/tips?
