2003 scenic handbrake cable problem

Hi, I was changing brake pads and discs the other day. I Released the hanbrake, took the cable off and turned the engine off. At that point the handbrake put itself on and "sucked" the cable in and didn't let it out even when I released the handbrake. Is there any way of pulling it out without going to a specialist?

Re: 2003 scenic handbrake cable problem

Based on your post I assume your car has the electronic handbrake? If the answer is yes, you will have to strip handbrake unit (look for 'how to' post on here) and release the cable (don't forget to switch on sidelights and remove battery terminal beforehand).

Also, onb my Scenic (Grand Scenic II) the rear caliper pistons needs to be wound in clokwise whilst applying presure to the rear caliper piston. I did this by using a G clamp and a pair of mole grips. I had to turn the G clamp in whilt turning the piston until it wound all the way in. Again, there are posts on this forum showing how to do this.

Hope this helps!
