How do I know if my car is fitted with a particle filter (FAP)??

I have a Renault Grand Scenic 2, 2.0l, Dci (MR9 70 engine), 7 seater, year 05/2006.
Nowhere is it written whether the vehicle is fitted with this particle filter in any of the documents. In an annex to the owners manual it states that certain 2.0l engines are fitted with the particle filter.
The particle filter affects the oil specification/grade to use in the engine. Without the FAP filter you can use 5W-40 and with the FAP fitted it is advised to use 5W-30.
Any ideas on this???

Kind regards,

Considering the engine type and age I would suspect the car does have a DPF but it would be wise to check with a dealer to be certain.

Engines fitted with DPF's require a special low SAP engine oil - usually much more expensive. Using the wrong oil can damage the filter.

further to noels..yeh dealer should know but also if you have the engine bhp, you may be able to google the answer as fap and non fap engines seem to have different bhp.
However google
(renault scenic 2.0dci mr9 70 wiki)
and terms like will find the answer fairly quickly.
