Re: 08 grand scenic electronic handbrake replacement price
Snap ! I have just been through the very same experience in the last 3 days and got stonewalled by the Renault so-called customer support team who refuse to accept that there is a problem with the design, even there has been no dashboard warning to sy that it was not operating correctly.
They maintain that they have had so few complaints about the electronic handbrake (and even had the nerve to describe it as "a popular feature with customers") that they refused to contribute towards the cost of replacing the unit.
This was the second MOT in a row where my car failed because of the handbrake and on both occasions I was told by the Renault dealer that the electronic unit had to be replaced and not just the faulty caliper. The first time around I refused to accept their verdict and on the advice of a former car mechanic insisted that they replace the caliper only and then lubricate the cables and lo-and-behold it worked.
Had no choice this time but to pay the money because I didn't have the time to argue about it. I am deeply unhappy about this and would encourage everyone who is suffering similar issues with this unnecessary and utterly pointless piece of electronic junk (what is wrong with a simple mechanical handbrake cable that has been used successfully for the last 100 years?) to complain to Renault directly so that they will be forced to recognise that there really is a problem with this system do something about it.
