Renault Clio MK1 Wheel Squeaking

i bought a Renault Clio MK1 91-98 with 47K on the clock, and recently there has been a squeaking on the front drivers side wheel, only when driving it happens, it doesn't squeak on full lock, and the past few days its been getting louder.. and the brake pedal is kinda hard to press :S

also, when i put the handbrake on. only 1 wheel is locking,

i have no idea with cars, this is my first

Hope Someone knows the problem

Re: Renault Clio MK1 Wheel Squeaking

Coul dbe a seized brake or possibly a faulty wheel bearing.

Re: Renault Clio MK1 Wheel Squeaking

Any time I've needed to change a wheel bearing then the noise has been a rumble rather than a squeak but if the noise goes away on full lock then wheel bearing is a possibility as the load comes off one wheel when cornering.

Jack up the wheel and see if there's play in it or noise when spinning it.

Not sure about the brake pedal being hard to operate. Do you mean its stiff or do you mean you have to push it all the way down to get the brakes to work?

The handbrake operates on the rear wheels. Neither rear wheel should be free to turn when the handbrake is on. If this isn't the case then it needs adjusting.

You've maybe got everything all fixed by now?
