Grand Scenic Handbrake stopped working

Hi I have a Grand Scenic 2005 1.5 dci and the electronic handbrake has stopped working. Initially it was service handbrake so I put some new pads in back which didn't solve problem and now the dash goes between service handbrake and handbrake fault with the stop light. Car is fine its just that the handbrake has stopped working and I can't hear the motor working in back. It did seize on once and then after using release it seemed to partially work but not fully release the handbrake on the drivers side, so used the emergency release a couple of times. Seen the posts on these and getting my mechanic to take it off tomorrow as its not working so might as well so if it can be repaired. Any ideas as to what might be wrong?

Re: Grand Scenic Handbrake stopped working

Hi Paul,

I have similar problem - my motor still works fine and EPB works on offside rear but nearside seems to have seized. When i hold hand break cable and get somone to activate it i can feel movement within the cable so i am wondering if it is something to do with the caliper. Any luck on getting yours sorted?
