renault master clutch pedal problem

Had problems with clutch pedal going down on its own but only while driving. It was like this for weeks and you had to lift the pedal up with your foot. There was no leaks of fluid and as soon as pedal was lifted up clutch operated normal.I asked numerous people but it was a one off and none could pinpoint the problem. However put a new clutch master cylinder on which is a very straight forward easy job and now van is back to normal.
