how to replace parking brake cable on Scenic

I wish to replace the handbrake cables on a Scenic 2005 1.6VVT fitted with the electronic motor/ module park brake thingy fitted.
I have been under the car, removed the large plastic shield on the underside of the vehicle and then found another rectangular shaped black plastic box fitted on top of the rear axle. Its gaining access to this box I am having trouble with - I have managed to remove it's top cover, but seem unable to get any further access to it as I believe thats where both the left and right handbrake cables are fitted from.
I would be grateful if someone could tell me the best way to replace these cables, I dont forsee any problem at the caliper end of the cable, everything else seems quite straight forward.
