Handbrake Issue - 1999 LAGUNA SPORT ESTATE

I don't that think that the answer to my problem has been posted.

Sorry, I am not very technical so please excuse some of my phases.

Recently, the handbrake does not feel right. It has to be applied higher than normal and does not seem to click correctly. The car sometimes creaks but does not move when the handbrake is on.

Previously, to the problem there seemed to be a hot smell to the rear of the car. I would guess that something may have stuck at some point.

I am lucky that I have someone that can help me with repairs. I am not sure how big a problem it might be. If it is likely to be something minor I am sure they would be happy to help. On the other hand if more work is need I will just take to the garage.

Your opinion on the possible problem would be appreciated.

Many Thanks.

The hot smell could be due to a seized rear brake and only by a full strip down of the rear brakes are you likely to find the problem.
