Going to replace front and back brakes on my van tomorrow.
Getting pads from Euro car parts at £14.34 front and same for rear Eicher is the brand name any good?.
can any body help with a step by step guide and do I need any special tool?.
Any help would be much appreciated.
All the fiats I have done and the japs as well had the anticlockwise piston the passengers side..my son in law had a mitsi people carrier and that had anticlockwise threads as well on the passengers side..this is why it gives you two thrust bolts in the kits one clockwise and one anti clock wise thread..the hardest thing I found when doing the anti clockwise ones with a plumbers wrench and G clamp is your trying to work in both directions turn the piston with the wrench in one direction while turning the G clamp in the opposite direction ..perfect for the cack handed amongst us but I found it fiddly ..in fact when I did the first one with the anticlockwise piston I found a second pair of hands a great help ..
I'd be totally knackered then only having one hand :d
Best thing i will do when i get round to buying the new calipers for the rear, is unwind them abit as they are already wound in, then i'll know which is what.
Cheers Phil.

Hmnn ... the piston on my Trekka definitely winds anti-clockwise on the left hand side. But only managed to wind it in about 1/2 centimetre before it became stuck. Had to buy a new caliper from Brakes International, with a £30 refund for the old one. Seems like the lesson here is to renew your brake pads sooner, before the caliper piston has reached its extension limit.
I also replace my pads sooner than later..some would say oh no way Pedro there is plenty of meat on those and many miles left on them..but history has taught me not to be complacent ..take you eye of the ball and you can be shelling out for discs as well as pads..
One other thing ...
New brake pads fit quite tightly into the fixed part of the caliper; but not so tight that they can't be moved by hand. Having cleaned up the caliper where the pads fit I was surprised at how tight they seemed in spite of a bright shiny surface.
On closer inspection the bright shiny surface turned out to be very hard and shiny compacted rust. It took careful use of a round file and scraping really hard with a Stanley knife to remove the rust. Finally the pads fitted snug but were able to be moved on the shiny METAL surfaces. Cleaning back to the metal is a surprisingly hard job to do well, but it will avoid stuck brake pads and bad braking.
And one many garages neglect to do no doubt..I know one for a fact that neglected to do it because I had to sort the sh*te mess out he made of it on my son in laws Scenic
Some with opposite directional threaded pistons and some with the same direction..looks like there may be more than one braking system for this vehicle..Mmmm
