Re: Brake disc prices..

my kangoo van front discs came to 21 the pair
my mgf 4 disks and pads 61
there are many deals out there i think ihave been lucky over the years but have heard of some having to hard a surface on the pads and did not work great when cold
have to admit it took the disks and pads on the kangoo van 3-4mths before they worked well and that was covering 3-4000 miles when cold just touch the peddle and it wanted to chuck you into the screen when warm it took that extra pressure but when they finally bedded in they worked great
i do alot of motorway driving and never heavy on the breaks

Re: Brake disc prices..

I remember reading in a Sunday newspaper years ago (no, not the Sunday Sport ) a consumer article about counterfeit branded car components being sold at very cheap prices and being of very poor quality. Needless to say many of these came from developing countries overseas.
I don't know to what degree this kind of problem still remains, but really the only way to ensure the parts you buy are of reasonable quality is to only buy from recognised national chains or dealerships. I believe I'm right in saying that manufacturers also sell to parts distrubutors on an 'own label' basis like your supermarket food brands so maybe this is where larger savings on quality products can be found.
Currently in Renoir White's garage:
Renault Trafic 1.7 Petrol Vauxhall Astra 1.4i & in bits Triumph Bonneville T140E & H-D XLH1200
