Re: Parking brake warning slow to clear
Just to throw a little more information regarding warnings coming on when the car is jacked up.
Yesterday mine went in for an MOT retest.
Car on ramp, front jacked up. The moment the inspector moved the front wheel, the handbrake tried to add extra load and threw up a parking brake warning on the dash.
Warning cleared the moment the inspector cycled the handbrake so he didn't worry about it and brakes had passed with flying colours 24 hours earlier so no drama with that.
Parking brake does seem to be working now but with all the issues I've had with it recently, can't say it's perfect.
May have been something similar with yours when they checked the steering.
Seems the parking brake system is looking at all wheels when on to identify if it needs to add extra load.
It could be as simple as when the parking brake is on the car identifying wheel movement as a fault and posting the warning accordingly.
Not identifying an internal problem with the parking brake operation as the initial thought would be.
