Extra parts which came with scenic front pads

I picked up a set of Bendix front pads for our Scenic.

Inside the box were 4 small pieces of thin sprung metal along with pads and caliper pivot bolts.

I've changed brakes on this car in past and don't recall those parts bring present. They look as if they would sit at the ends of the bracket holding the pads, where you would normally apply a little grease to ensure pads can move freely to and from disc.

Do I need to use these parts and am I on correct lines on their function?

Re: Extra parts which came with scenic front pads

sounds like it but a piccie may help.

May or may not be needed for your calipers. Often with kits one kit suits a few variants but always worth confirming on brakes.

Is there a helpline number on the box ??

They sound like the guides for the pads

not the calliper guides, but the bit the pad itself slides on inside the calliper.

Re: Extra parts which came with scenic front pads

They sound like anti rattle shims to me. If they are with the new pads then they should be fitted. The pads are made slightly smaller to accommodate these shims.

If you don't fit them the pads will be to loose in the caliper and will not seat correctly. They will also move about and judder.

Brake grease was mentioned earlier. Do not use a copper based grease if the calipers are made from aluminium.

Re: Extra parts which came with scenic front pads

They sound like anti-rattle shims. When my garage changed my brakes they had to wait for these shims to be delivered, but said if I wanted to use the car it would be safe to drive without them fitted...they just stop the pads from making a noise by rattling in the caliper when they are at 'rest' without the brakes applied.
