Renault Grand Scenic parking brake failure when wet

I have recently got a grand scenic 2005 1.6L petrol. Recently I drove in wet weather and the "check parking brake" icon came up on the dash board and the parking brake wouldn't work. I took it the garage and after running diagnostics they said water and got into the parking brake motor. So 36 hours later after work I got back in the car and the "check parking brake" icon disappeared and the brake was working fine again. I drove home on a wet road and the icon came back on the dashboard and the handbrake stopped working again. This morning I went for a drive and to my suprise the handbrake is working fine again.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is it worth buying a new handbrake motor? Is there a way or water proofing the handbrake motor?? How can it be stopped?

Cheers guys

Re: Renault Grand Scenic parking brake failure when wet

New motor unit is about 500 quid before fitting plus set up on diagnostics unit.

There is a thread in the stickies on stripping down a unit.... not too bad a job.
And yes, you can dry out, make sure the PCB is clean and reseal with silicon.
Could also be water getting into the multiplug
And nt sure about Grand Scenics but scenics can also suffer from water in connections under the passenger seat..under the storage drawer.
Currently in Dancingdad's garage:
Qashqai 1.6 spark driven, Kia Sedona 2.9 TDI, Scenic II 15DCi 2004 (SORN) not quite RIP.
