brake pedal after clutch cable change

few days ago my clutch cable broke and i got it replaced. now the brakes feel different i have to push the pedal a lot further than before and takes a lot more distance to brake....
i went to my usual mechanic a month ago for maintenance he said the brakes were fine, a different mechanic changed the cable. is it his fault somehow or is it the brakes?

Re: brake pedal after clutch cable change

Could be either.
I'd have a talk with the clutch place as even though changing the clutch cable (which I see you also have problems with) should not effect the brakes if he's moved the pedal box or something else relating to brakes for access it could have caused the problem.

Could also be low fluid, air in system or servo problem so get it checked fast.

Re: brake pedal after clutch cable change

Just noticed you have two threads running connected with the same garage repair. Sounds like the mechanic has messed things up as these faults have both occured at the same time.
Was the cable fitted by a different mechanic at the same garage you use or another garage altogether?
I think you should take the car back to them as soon as possible.
It is surprising how lax some mechanics can be, on a few occasions I had collected my motorbikes & cars after repair and found loose / missing nuts or something miles out of adjustment
