Looking at the pictures I wonder if the weight on the top bolt is there to act as some sort of damper?
The fluted rubber cylindrical seal on the bottom pin could be to keep the caliper tight on it's guides, to stop it moving if the vehicle is going over rough ground?
Both items are probably something to do with the vehicle being a 4WD and the possibility of it spending time off road.
Maybe someone can tell us the exact reasons for these items....I'm just guessing
