Re: Electronic handbrake stuck on during MOT and won't release

Why does the car need strapping down on a rolling road at MOT speeds ?
Wheels are trapped in the rollers, it ain't going anywhere.

I believe the system for auto parking brake motors is handbrake off when testing front brakes and that car system has an auto test function that when the rear wheels rotate without the front moving, the parking brake engages progressively to full power. Not 100% sure how that works but MOT guy was explaining to me at last MOT.
Garage will probably tell you different and deny any liability.

If mechanics seem okay, it's power feed...and I think thats via the subterranean connections and relays beneath passenger seat but not certain.

Re: Electronic handbrake stuck on during MOT and won't release

I spoke to an mot tester at local Renault dealer and also posted on a forum with mot testers and they all said the handbrake can be engaged during front brake test. Looks like I'm just unlucky. Booked into Renault dealer for diagnostics and MOT. Quoted price for new module is 600 fitted, so I'm preparing for that.

On a side note how do they test the electric handbrake in the rollers? I didnt think you could apply electric handbrake while read wheels rotating?
