Megane Mk 3 Handbrake - converting to RHD

I have had my MK 3 megane for a month or so now and I just can't get on with the handbrake lever. It is bent towards the passenger seat (i.e suitable for a left hand driving position). In my opinion this should have been changed as part of the producing a right hand drive version of the car but wasn't.

This bend makes it difficult to use and awkward to grip because your knuckles scrape down the side of the passenger seat every time you use it.

Does anyone either know of someone selling an aftermarket part handbrake that bends in the opposite direction or has anyone tried re-bending the existing handbrake so that it is either no longer bent towards the left hand side or even bent towards the driver?
