brakes (again, groan)

My brakes seem to be a bit too good (bear with me)

they seem now and then to nearly throw me through the windscreen, now I have been putting this down to me having a lead foot but I was wondering if they could be faulty (ie binding sometimes causing the car to stop violently)

please bear in mind that after going from an Impreza turbo (01 WRX) to this Scenic (53 plate 1.6 dynamique) the brakes seem much better???

not any major problem but just wondering

When I first went for a test drive in my Laguna both my wife and I nearly went through the windscreen the first time I braked, the brakes were so much better than in our older Astra estate.

The brakes do not have anything wrong with them they just have a very good servo and big discs all round.

I read your post and wondered if your scenic has the Renault emergency braking assist system fitted ?

From the renault website

"The emergency braking assistance detects emergency conditions from the speed with which the driver hits the brake, boosting the braking power (which is controlled by ABS) to reach maximum pressure almost immediately."

( Not meaning to boast ) If I stamp on the brake pedal above 40mph the car stops on a six pence and the hazard warning light automatically come on to warn people behind. I am not sure how this system is calibrated but it may be worth thinking about getting yours checked if it's fitted.
