Electronic parking (Hand) Brake Repairs (Reconditioning)

Hi all I have a Renault Laguna II 55 reg I have have warning lights on the dashboard tell my i have a handbrake fault. I have priced a new electronic hand brake unit and it was 450+VAT just to buy from Renault. I got the chance of a second hand one but on reading some posts in this Forum and others it did not seem that it can be just a change over as the car wont recognise the new one.

Anyway on searching Ebay i found a place advertising repairs (reconditioning) at the cost of 150 this is the link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Renault-Gr...item3aa11057c3

So questions is has anyone ever heard of this company? Has anyone ever used this company or has anyone ever heard of reconditioning of the handbrake? Or does anyone ever used any other company to get a recon done?

Any information would be helpful

Re: Electronic parking (Hand) Brake Repairs (Reconditioning)

Welcome, DO a SEARCH on't forum.
Lots of posts on EPB (Mainly Scenic)
1) Nag on Dash doesn't necessarily mean it's faulty. My EPB nag was caused by battery disconnection, before the computer was "asleep".
2) Members have:- Released jammed mechs, replaced Relays & replaced motors with failed brushes.
3) One chappie who got a Scrappy supplied EPB, found that by using DDT2000 software, not for his model, but for the car it came from, he could reset the EPB. AND it is still working on his car.
4) Does your EPB work OK, despite the nag?

Look for posts from Me, Greavey, Niallmoran & many others.
