Re: Megane II Rear Disc ABS compatibility
I believe your discs have the magnetic tone wheel type ABS ring that looks like a bearing dust seal.... just like the Laguna has.
These are removable so if you do have any issues you could possibly swap these over from your old discs....I would remove them from the old discs to keep as spares rather than putting them in the scrap anyway.
I recently removed one of these tone wheels from a Laguna rear disc to renew the wheel bearing, it had quite a hold but taking it easy and tapping it off evenly and gently all around got it loose. It went back on easily with a touch of grease to help it on its way....no problems with the ABS light so obviously no damage to the tone ring.
The tone wheels are quite a delicate item so care needs to be taken when handling discs that have them, the discs shouldn't be put down on the ground on the tone wheel etc....just a bit of common sense really.
It's quite possible that some of the stories you hear of incompatibility with this type of tone ring is down to the fact that the discs have been handled incorrectly before or during fitting and the tone ring has been damaged.
