Hi, still got message, etc. You can probably clear it with a Renault clip. Apparently the dash needs to be told that the handbrake is now manual and not electronic.
I suppose only a really awkward mot person would fail it on this warning when they know fully well that the handbrake is working and it no longer has the epb.

Re: Scenic converted to manual handbrake **Fixed**

hi guys
i have problems with my EPB for a while on 05plate grand scenic. we have been around lots of scrapyards to look for manual handbrake parts but unsure if older scenic handbrake parts will be suitable? i am aware that cables need to be specific to grand scenic (i'd buy new ones) but if anyone could answer if an older scenic's handbrake lever and the housing around it would be suitable for conversion or which other renault model's handbrake can be used, it would be great help.
i have posted the same questions on another thread by no one has replied.

thank you in advance

Re: Scenic converted to manual handbrake **Fixed**

Hi, I hope you have got this sorted out by now but if not any Scenic 2 (03-09) handbrake and surrounding console will fit, the cables should fit also, you will have to get them off a scrap car anyway because you will need the guide pipes from under the rear carpet and plastic. New cables are about 15 if you do a search .

Hi Jon67
Thank you for your reply. I haven't been able to have this sorted yet. Any garages I have been to are unsure how they'd do it. I myself haven't got much experience fixing cars. One of the garages I have been to could possibly do it but they have been told by another garage that the parts need to come off a similar car e.g. It needs to be a scenic with key card rather than the traditional key.
I'll let then know as per your advice that any scenic (03-09, grand or not) can be used for parts.
They will need to strip off the lever, housing around it, guide pipes. I'll buy the cables off the Internet.
Could you please tell me if your car passed the MOT and how /if you managed to remove the epb fault and to tell the computer that you have manual handbrake rather than the epb?
Thank you once again.
