Question Scenic electric handbrake

Took my 56 plate Scenic for it's MOT today. When I went to pick it up they told me that the handbrake warning light had come on and they could not reset it. I have had this happen when servicing the car and the rear wheels have moved with the handbrake on. Is there a quick way of resetting it other than going to Renault. I know in the pat it has reset itself after a few drives but would like to get the MOT sorted soonest. It does run out on 23 Aug.

Cheers Steve

Re: Scenic electric handbrake

Any movement detected while handbrake is on will result in a warning.
Any movement, front or rear wheels turning or steering.
Exactly like happens in an MOT when the motor is up on ramps.
Had it happen on mine almost every year.
If a non permanent fault (above isn't one) it will self clear in a few driving cycles (start, drive round, stop engine.)

Re: Scenic electric handbrake

IMHO they caused it, they should fix it FOC. And do a free retest.
Next time take it to an MOT station that understands Renault.
As DD Says give it a day or so, if still nagging, a local indy with code reader should be able to reset.

Thought it would

When you take it back in, explain to them, nicely, why it happened.
This warning is not one that shows a fault within the system.
It is one where the system sees something unexpected and warns the driver about it.
It also hammers the brake on as hard as it can BTW.
What it cannot know is that the unexpected is an MOT inspector jacking the wheels up and wobbling them.
