Re: 2003 clio brake warning and stop light

Hi

My daughter and partner both have 53 plate 1.2 16 V Clio's ones a Dynamic and the other Expression.

Neither have brake pad sensors. Both have had the reluctor rings split and the warning for them is the ABS and SERV lights, both of which re set when stopping and re starting the engine. As your car is not displaying ether of these lights I think you can rule out the ABS as your issue.

If you can remove the brake fluid sensor and test it on the bench I think you will find that it is a permanently an open circuit which will mean replacement required.

Take the connector off, bridge the two wires, if light goes off, its the top

Re: 2003 clio brake warning and stop light

Well, I bridged the wires on the connector and the light stayed on, so I am really confused now

Re: 2003 clio brake warning and stop light

hi

You're testing and recording your results in reverse.

If you join the two wires (bridge them) you are completing the circuit so the light should illuminate. If the two wires are not bridged the circuit should be broken and light extinguish.

The float (if levels correct) should hold the circuit open & only if the level should drop will it close the circuit.

Re: 2003 clio brake warning and stop light

I am sure I am getting on everyone's nerves now, but I still can't get the lights off, wether the wire on the float sensor is connected or not, the stop and brake warning light stay on.
On another note, I looked at the mot history, and there was a abs fault noted, and sure enough there is a new sensor put on, but there was no mention of the brake warning light at the point of mot
