So my 2006 Renault Scenic has been showing a 'check abs' msg on my screen for a few weeks now. Today after breaking fairly gently..the computer bleeped at me...the 'abs' msg vanished only to be replaced by a 'braking fault' msg. The car continued to drive ok, and the actual brakes themselves were very good. However on reaching home I discovered a humming noise coming from the engine AFTER turning the ignition off. To prevent battery failure I have disconnected this . I assume this is all to do with the abs but can anyone shine a light on what's going on?
Hi, no it's not the cooling fan. It only started once the 'brake fault' msg came on. Besides it is coming from a totally different area of the engine. Thank you anyway.
Ok quick update, I called the AA in and it turns out it was the ABS motor still running so we.....took out the ABS fuse and noise has gone! Marvellous! Would rather get rid of abs than face a huge repair bill...sorted.
