Hi,

I have a 2004 Renault Grand Scenic 1.9dci and I need to change a rear caliper bleed screw.

Do you know what size I need (e.g. 7mm x 1mm)?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Unfortunateley Renault use several different brake callipers both front & rear on their vehicles.

Have researched the net and found they can be either M10 x 1.00 or M7 x 1.00 probably be best if you remove old one to measure.

Sorry I misread A55ii's reply. I don't want to remove the screw to measure it as I have fairly new brake fluid in the system and by the time I've measured it, all the fluid would have come out and I fear it would get contaminated and unuseable.

I just measured the exposed part of the screw and its 15mm from the bottom of the nut to the top and 5mm from the top of the nut to the top of the screw.

From this info do you know how long the screw is?

sorry you totally miss under stood my reply

M10 or M7 is the diameter and 1.0 is the thread pitch. they will be a standard length depending on the diameter.

As I said remove one and measure it or take it to factors for them to match it for you.

The bolt edges has rounded off so I need to replace it. The spanner (11mm) was working well at first but then started to slip & damage the bolt edges.

I've now removed the bleed screw but its condition isn't good enough to reuse. I've measured it and the diameter is 10mm, length 27mm and thread 7mm.

Does that mean its a M10 screw? Also, I've seen that there are two variiants available. A short and medium.

hi

as said before, now you have it in your hand, take it to your local motor factor who will be able to match it exactly. They can also sell you the correct spanner / wrench to use so you don't damage another one .
