I seem to remember reading that on Renaults with
ABS you should bleed the brakes with the ignition off
and that if you do get air in the ABS unit it can be very
difficult to clear.

Who would design a vehicle that falls over when you stop?

If you find a fix for your problem please let us know it will help others.

Yes that's what I've heard too and that's the bit that worries me. All I can do now is bleed the entire system and see what the rakes are like afterwards. Just bought 5ltrs of brake fluid so should have enough there for a thorough job.

Well, it ain't rocket science......fortunately
If there is some air trapped, back in the system, at the ABS, it just means that you may get some bubbles from the wheel cylinder at the start of bleeding then a gap before some more from farther back in the system.
