Ok i have a clio 2 on a 03 plate and want to change the discs and pads on front wheels, when i rang local motor factors they asked if my brakes were lucas or another make, how do i tell? the calipers on the front have TRW and various numbers stamped on ie 376 in a diamond
i told the salesperson that the discs are 259 in sise but not sure and what tipe screws hold the disc on.

Re: clio disc and brakes

The manufacturers name should be stamped into the caliper, possibly Lucas,Bosch,Bendix or ATE.

Measuring the size of discs with them still on the car can be awkward, but really your motor factor should be able to match the size to the closest one to the measurements you've given them.

If your still struggling, the only sure way you'll end up with the right parts is to remove the disc and pads from one side of the car and take them with you to the factors, these provide a pattern and you can match them up 100%.If you need to use the car to get to the factors you can remove one pad, draw round it on a piece of paper, then refit the pad and use the template on the paper to match the pad,you should be able to match the disc size to the type of pad needed.

As far as the disc retaining screws,Renault generally use a T30 Torx headed screw.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
