Unhappy clio squealing brakes and wheel size confusion

hi, i have a 2003 clio 1.5dci and i was running 205/45/r17 alloys on it, i recently changed back to the standard 165/65/r14 steelys that came on the car as new.

I have noticed a very noticable boost in acceleration and power. could this be because i changed the wheels or just by pure chance i got a few more ponies at the same time!

The car went down the road straight as a die with the alloys, but now with the steels, with proper psi's and no hard knocks, It pulls to the right?

And how do i stop that common renault problem of noisy brakes, i used copper grease, cleaning the drums and calipers. but no luck. driving me mad and makes my baby nephew cry lol

Thanks for reading and any feedback would be greatly appreciated. cheers
