ide engine has its faults but is good

Thought I would put my ten pence worth in on this subject

Certain people will tell you this engine is rubbish and was withdrawn due to major pay outs . This is wrong the engine was developed to try and compete with desiel engines it was meant to give a good mpg and good performance .
Renault spent quite a bit of money developing this engine . The engine was put in a range of cars from the megane to the Laguna and was a success . The engine has great torque and was delivering around 30mpg . This was never going to beat the rivaling deisel engine and the vvt engine so they decided to change tact as the ide engine was expensive to build .
The engine is a reliable engine compared to certain other renault engines I can tell you one thing take a look at the warrenty pay outs on the turbos renault fits in certain models .
So if u own one take it from me the engine is reliable dont leave 17,000 miles between servicing as u are asking for trouble put some good oil in your car and enjoy . Generally if somthing does go wrong it will most likley be a sensor which wont cost much to repair unless u take it to renault
I did notice a member has wrote his ide has done 160,000 miles I wonder how many faults his vehicle has had I bet it hasn't had that many but i tell you one thing if he had one of the turbo engines it would have caused him bother .

Hope this helps .
