Car
Clio2005 DCI.
Drives great. But when I stop at lights say, I get exhort fumes into car? (Only when Heater is on ,ie fan.
Its regular serviced, all filters changed, ext.
And before some one states the obvious, Exhort.
Exhort checked front to back, Today No problems no leaks?

I'm open to suggestions.

Thx Ron:crying2:

I will ask, has your cabin filter been changed....

Also, is the exhaust pipe sticking out from under your bumper, not slightly in.
Fumes can travel through the rear rubber seal, Have you had the cover off the top of the engine and looked for any black gung around an injector.
This would point to cylinder blowing fumes past the injector seal,

1 yes cabin filter changed.
Exhaust checked and given clean bill of health. And dose not stick out anywhere.
Injectors where out last year to have the brass flame washers changed. No black gung anywhere around injectors, Everything very clean.
Car dose get a lot of carbon build up, In EGR valve housing, And like gunk in the housing to the right of EGR.
I tend to clean EGR valve every second service.

Thx Ron

Thx for your reply.
And spot on.
Ive Had my Exhorts checked , Cabin filter changed, Ive cleaned EGR up, But to be fair it was not that bad.
I also cleaned all pipes.
I have also been round Manifold, turbo And the Cat, with a long Pencil , with wool tapped to end,
And I still can not find any leek.?
But you have same problem
glad im not alone .
if the ever find out pls let me know thx Ron

So yours oror494 would suggest its been dragged in through your cabin filter..
If Fitted make sure its clean, and put in the right way.....
Or a leak from your exhaust to manifold. or manifold to head, it seems like an under bonnet exhaust fumes issue.
Unless you have a leak from around your injectors, but you can normally hear a chuffing sound ...

But is it exhaust fumes, and not fumes/smells that leaves give off, when trapped under the scuttle panels,
Have you been brave enough to block the rear exhaust pipe off, to check no leaks.
Visual check is not always the best way to check, block the tail pipe, (with a bit of rag ) see if you can see a leak then..

Heater on only when stationary,,, are you sure its exhaust fumes,, not the horrible smell that you get from leaves, that are trapped. Would be stripping scuttle panel off if mine, and giving everything a good clean underneath it...
If air con fitted, trying one of those sprays that gets fired into the air vents. to kill all smells

talked to a injector shop on tue,
After ruling out all above options listed all other options
first thing he asked, was where I fill up.
then gave me a lecture about diesel etc.
everything he said made sense. .
So we are going to stop using supermarket fuel.
And see if it solves my problem.
I can report, as of now , Car as better pick up , And seems to be quieter?
But its early days, Going to give it a month,
As I do approx. 500 +miles a week
I think a month should be long enough to see a change .
will report back.

Not looked at 1.9dci, So don't know setup.
So good luck with that.
Breather for my clio from dealer would of cost me £65.
I got one from scrap yard, Making sure membrane inside was ok, gave it a good clean and fitted it.
No more foul smells.
And no longer loosing any oil.
Its been a long time to find problem, And am £400 pounds lighter in pocket, Becouse the garage I used Just wanted to change gaskets starting at top of engine.
Never did anyone mention the Rocker cover Breather.
