Despite sounding horrific, it really does take about 15 mins all in:

Lift / pop off the speaker grilles each side - you'll then see the 1 screw each side that (believe it or not) hold the whole of the top of the dash on. Only slight complication is the srews are torx (star) type.
Unscrew and remove these.
Pull dash top up and towards you and the whole thing comes off in one piece.
This lets you access the two bulbs behind the dispay (each held in little plastic clips).
Replace bulbs - do both at once - but check they are working before you put dash back on!!!
Reassemble - have a look at the underside of the dash top before you do so and you'll see where the moulded in clips engage with the rest of the car -ie where to get it lined up
I coudn't believe how easy the job was having dreaded the thought of needing to pull the whole dash apart. Give it a go!!
