If not one fitted,, have you checked pistons are moving freely in the wheel cylinders,,
Drum off, press on one of the brake shoes, the piston should move, as one piston moves in, the other side of cylinder, piston should move out ..
Not changed rear cylinders on it ,,, since you have had it,, wheel cylinders can look identical on the outside, and fit , but they use different size pistons,, for different applications

I think, aesthetically, car design is so interesting - the dashboards, the steering wheels, and the beauty of the mechanics. I don't know how any of it works, I don't want to know,
