One of my boys worked in a bodyshop and said that these bonded panels are a right pain in the rear to repair.
They use an air saw to cut them off and then have to chistle the remainder off and then struggle to remove the remaining bonding.
New panels come with a bonding kit.
Bonding is being used more and more by manufacturers because it reduces manufacturing costs but is also the reason why accident damaged vehicles are so often written off by insurers.
Bring back nuts and bolts I say!
