Actually lag the thirst doesn't bother me regards the Mondy 2.5. I believe that V6 is a Mazda engine and is quite a good un. I've just been searching online and uncovered another Mondy V6 but a manual gearbox one...
I drive the van 95% of the time - whatever car I have I always brim it with petrol on pay day, usually worked out around £15 per month in Megane as I don't do too many miles. A V6 while thirstier isn't going to cost me much more, even double it's only £30 a month (peanuts!). Insurance will only be slightly more and tax about the same I think, but thats only a once a year job anyway!
I really wouldn't mind a V6, something to enjoy a blast in - just the lack of the estate rear end I think thats the problem. Another way of looking at that is that I had a hatch back car before anyway, and a Mondy boot is going to be bigger than a Megane boot. Hmmm
