Battery disconnection/computers

I have a 02 laguna sports tourer 1.8 petrol auto previlage. After having a front n/s wishbone replaced my head lights are moving on there own,( as this is where the sensor is located ). I have been to my renault garage to have the computer reset but it is not talking back to the laptop. The chaps at the garage suggested that i disconnect the battery for a minimum of half an hour to get the computers to re-initialize,therefore resetting the headlight levels. Has anyone done this? does it work or am i likley to creat more computer problems? I do have my radio code.
