Ideally what you need are 'Direct Replacement' speakers. These are model specific and don't require any modification to fit the original speaker holes.Either that or you need to remove your old speakers and match up the replacements to the right size and fixing positions.
What maximum output is your stereo?.Ideally you need speakers that are a higher wattage than the maximum output of your head unit.i.e if your unit is 4x40watts you need at least 50watt speakers.
Try a local car radio specialist,he will be able to source the right speakers for your car.Halfords are fine for everyday stuff, but if you want something specific then a specialist is always best.
My personal recommendation is Pioneer speakers, but others such as Kenwood,Sony and Alpine are all good.I personally don't rate Blaupunkt or Clarion, but it's more down to personal choice.
I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
