Number plate security

I drove from Anglesey to Cheltenham last week for a weeks break and when I arrived my rear numberplate had come loose and was just hanging on with one self tapper screw, the laguna boot is made of plastic and is only about 3 mm thick.

I fitted it using a slightly bigger screw.

If I had lost the rear plate the number plate regulations mean to get a new plate I would need proof of identity and proof I owned the car.

When I got home I went to the "ask the police site"

I asked them if there was anyway I could have got one new numberplate with both myself and the supplier both acting legally.

They said no, and suggested that I would have to get someone to post the documents to me or I would have to get them myself.

Better check your numberplates before every journey

A problem well stated is a problem half solved !
