Central Locking Remote Problem
Hi, I've recently bought a 1.6 16v Laguna Alize (2000) and there seems to be a problem with the remote on the key for the central locking.
I've searched other forums and believe it's not the actual key that is at fault but alas I'm not clear on exactly what needs to be looked at either.
The problem I'm having is that sometimes the remote locking works perfectly, but then sometimes it just refuses to do anything. The battery is ok and the light indicator on the key lights up.
I have to open the door with the key and then if I press the remote (with the door ajar), the locks work with the remote (but obviously as the door is open the locks just unlock). I've tried the same with other doors but this only seems to work with the driver's door. So to lock the car, I'm having to open the rear doors and use the internal locking switch to lock all the doors.
I know I'm not alone in having this problem and that it does have something to do with the driver's door. Apparently the microswitch (as opposed to the normal door switches as fitted to my 1997 Laguna) has a fault, but I'm not sure where it is, what it looks like, and what can be done about it.
