Hi Noel,
I found a spec. for resistance against temperature for this sensor in the Haynes manual and on Autodata, so I plotted the graph and compared with my own measured results. The lines were pretty close, so I concluded that the sensor was OK.

I also assumed that the airstream would keep this cool and it would actually measure the temperature of the air, but I tried it one morning, plugged my laptop into the OBD2 port and from a cold start it said 8deg air temp - about right.

However at other times, when the engine has been coughing, it reported between 30 - 40 degC - obviously too high and the sensor felt hot in its position on top of the inlet manifold.

So - I'm perhaps jumping to the conclusion that this is the reason why the engine appears to be running a bit weak - but nevertheless this doesn't seem right and I'm unsure what to do about it!!
