is used to calculate air density along with the RPM sensor and the IAT sensor these three sensors give the
the info to calculate the air density and determine the air mass flow, which will in turn calculate the correct fuel rate.
Temp will rise in the inlet manifold to 70-80c, seems to me that your IAT is ok with the tests you have done.
