There are 2 temp sensors on that Housing. 1 purely operates the instrument panel temperature gauge, the other is for the engine management and the correct running of the vehicle.

Eh what you talking about? No 1 Cylinder is showing that it has been washed out by the coolant leaking into the cylinder.. The other 3 cylinders all look perfectly fine with the usual sooty deposits around the valve seats as you would expect.

There hasn't been any Antifreeze in that engine for a LONG time..!
Moral of this story: Its all very well for a mechanic at service time to look at the bottle and mark on the service sheet that the coolant is OK. I would say that the anti-freeze strength has never been properly tested. If it had been then you would have been advised that it needed replaced.

Jeez this is exactly how garages get a bad name by shoddy short cut servicing or lazy Mechanics!!
