RCL will cover window regulators up to 4 years old on meganes and scenics as they fail so often.your dealer should have known this and contacted them on your behalf.at least thats what the dealership i work in does
Sadly our local dealer (Middlesbrough) has never heard of regulators failing (hmm).
Renault Customer services
and was told as it's 4.5 years old and out of warranty it's not going to be covered, especially as it's 2nd hand and they therefore don't know the history (bah humbug), they suggested taking it to the dealer to diagnose the fault, this will cost me £60 for them to tell me it's the reg or motor which they sell together fitted for £320.
Rant over..I'm annoyed because I can't take my 16 month Son out in the car without a front window and I have had to put the car in my father in laws garage until I solve this.
Can anyone advise, do you think the problem below is regulator or motor? I can get a reg' from
for £60 delivered, but the local Renault specialist garage (not the dealer) think it's motor (which I can't get off
and costs £180 +fitting). They haven't seen the car yet, this is only telephone advice.
The front passenger window wouldn't go down.
Later in the day it went down fully itself, then wouldn't go up.
Later in the day I pressed the switch and it went up ok, but wouldn't go down again.
The next morning the window went down fully on it's own and won't go up again.
There is no noise from the door when pressing the switch.
Power is going to the switch (checked with multimeter).
The window has gone up 1 inch, twice now, so it 2"s up but won't go further (suspect it went up under window closure option from central locking).
Any help / advice greatly would be highly appreciated
