I'm with pragmatix - do the course on one of their bikes and then buy your own choice. One of my mates did this a couple of years ago on several Saturday mornings, if you're trying to spread the cost a bit.
You'll get VERY bored driving a 125cc machine. Sure it'll get you into town but think about even going on a dual carriageway where you're struggling to keep up with the traffic etc - and it's even worse with the slightest breath of wind. A 500cc or so machine is almost as easy to drive as a 125 but you can drive on motorways or with passengers without worrying about your lack of power. You'll also get a much nicer looking bike - in my opinion the 125's you mention above don't look the part whatsoever. Even have a look at Harleys - you'll be surprised how cheap they are to run and insure - and that orgasm you have every time you drive it is worth the extra cash spent.
Good luck with whatever way you go.
